After you have enrolled your fields, Carbon by Indigo checks with certain 3rd party resources to confirm entered information.

You may have logged into your account to start entering records on your fields and noticed the above error message.

Don’t worry, some issues may be resolvable, but they must be resolved with our Customer Success Team. If they haven’t reached out to you yet, contact them through the red chat button at the bottom of the page.

In the following chart are common resolutions for this error. Your Customer Success Coordinator will let you know the reason for the error.

Potential Reason for error

Resolution Path

Field converted in the last 10 years

Our Customer Success Team will check Google earth to confirm areas in your field were not cleared of native ecosystem.

If you confirmed it has been less than 10 years since converting to cropland, this field is not eligible for our program. This field may be considered eligible once the 10 years is over. If you implement a new practice change in “Year 11”, you can start earning carbon credits.

Field classified as Highly Erodible Land (HEL)

We just need you to confirm you have federal crop insurance or an AD-1026 form for this field to earn carbon credits. These documents should support that your field had an exemption and was allowed to grow cash crops.

If this can not be confirmed, your field is not eligible for our program at this time.

Field classified as

Wetlands

For this field to be eligible in our program, we need you to confirm you have federal crop insurance or an AD-1026 form. These documents should support that your field had an exemption and was allowed to grow cash crops.

If this can not be confirmed, your field is not eligible for our program at this time.

Histosols identified in the field

Our Customer Success team can go ahead and edit your field boundaries to remove the area with identified histosols. After we edit the field boundaries, you will confirm the new acreage.

Field boundary overlap: your field has 1 pixel in non-cropland, federal lands, or other mapped fields/entities

Our Customer Success team will edit the field boundary to remove even 1 pixel of land that isn’t cropland.
