Carbon Harvest for the 2023 crop year is closed. Congratulations to everyone who has filed fields!

If you’re newly enrolled in the program, after September 15, 2023, the first Carbon Harvest you can participate in will open later in 2024. There are steps to be taken before it opens.

What’s next if you filed fields for the 2023 carbon crop:

We’ll process your 2023 records and determine how many credits your fields generated, and work with an independent verifier and registry to issue the credits and sell them. Once this process is complete, we’ll reach out to you and process your payment, likely in March 2025. Learn more about carbon credit payment.

Start entering records now for 2024 crop season events. It’s best to enter them as they occurred, within 15 days, to potentially avoid being asked to provide supporting documentation.

If you’re planning on making practice changes on new fields, make sure to enroll them now. Consider stacking another practice change on an enrolled field to maximize profits, like cover crops and no till—our agronomic tools can help.

What’s next if you filed in a previous year but didn’t file any fields in the 2023 carbon crop:

Your payments will be paused in the 2025 payment cycle until you file again, but you’ll still be able to get paid for credits generated by your 2023 practice changes. Your next opportunity to file fields to get paid will be later this year with the next Carbon Harvest.

In order to continue generating payments on your fields, you need to enter field records and file your fields each year that you’re enrolled in the program to demonstrate that you’re continuing with qualifying practice changes.

Your next step will be to prepare for the next Carbon Harvest by getting your historical year records entered and reviewed by Indigo Ag. We'll reach out to indicate when you should start. This way when Carbon Harvest opens in December, you will just need your current season records reviewed.

It’s time to start (or continue) entering your historical field records and submitting them for review so that you’re ready to generate carbon credits and get paid. You’re not too late, even if it’s been several years since you enrolled: You can submit records for up to 5 cultivation cycles from the year you started your practice change in one Carbon Harvest. Welcome to the program! Your next step will be to prepare for the next Carbon Harvest by getting your historical year records entered and reviewed by Indigo Ag. We'll reach out to indicate when you should start. Carbon Harvest is the process of filing your fields so we can determine how many carbon credits were generated. Filing fields can take time, so many growers find that it’s easy to enter as they go.
